Born in Somerset, Kentucky, and raised in the home of a Southern Baptist minister, GJ Farmer spent his childhood growing up in various parts of Kentucky, while his father served at churches around the state.
GJ gave his heart to Jesus when he was 5 years old and was baptized at the age of 7. He answered the call to ministry during his senior year of high school and has pursued that call ever since.
He married the love of his life, Hillary, on December 13, 2008. Together they have 3 children- Jack, Mackenzie, and Jocie.
He enjoys reading, spending time with his family, watching baseball and basketball, and coaching Little League baseball.
GJ holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Clear Creek Baptist Bible College, a Master’s Degree from Dallas Baptist University, and is completing his Master of Divinity at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was ordained on May 1, 2011, and has over 10 years of experience in ministry, ranging from children’s ministry, youth ministry, and pastoral ministry. He has served in churches in Kentucky and South Carolina with proven track records of growth and high impact in their communities.
He has a vision for the people of Scottsville and Allen County to know God through worship, connect with other believers, grow in discipleship, and live out their faith through serving in the local church and community. He has a heart for preaching the Gospel and seeing people saved.
His desire is for Scottsville Baptist Church to grow to new heights, numerically and spiritually.
